Welcome to My World!

My name is Kimberly Obenauer and I am a multi-grade, multi-subject teacher.  I've been wanting to start a blog for awhile now to be able to reflect and connect with other teachers about things that work and don't work in a classroom.  I'm kind of an oddball teacher.  I have students from 2nd grade to students in 12th grade, so I get them all! I enjoy it because I never really know what my day is going to be like! One hour I have my littles and then I go straight to high school seniors.  It keeps me hopping!

I've been so inspired this week by connecting with teachers on IG and Periscope that I felt it was finally time to start my blogging journey! Teachers are a rare breed in this world.  We always want to help each other succeed!  I've been watching and learning so much this week that I want to be able to continue that!

A little about me! I teach Spanish to middle and high school students and I teach computers/keyboarding to 2nd through 6th graders.  I love reading other people's blogs.  I've found that I follow a lot of K-2 blogs.  I think it's because I introduce a new language to students.  Surprisingly, a lot of the strategies that work well for teaching K-2 to read and write work well for introducing Spanish too! It's like starting all over again in a different language.  I love working with the younger grades in the computer lab.  I'm trying to figure out how to introduce all this new technology to some of my upper elementary this year while keeping them safe online. This year I'm also going to be a cheer coach! As a person who is quiet in front of people at first, this is going to be scary!

I'm also a mom! I have 4 wonderful kiddos. Two boys, Two girls.  My oldest will be a sophomore in college this year. He recently decided to just up and move to another state to go to school.  My next one is a girl and she's going to be a junior this year.  My youngest boy is going to be a freshman (where does the time go?)  The youngest of the family will be going into 6th grade.  I'm lucky that my own kiddos go to school where I teach so we get to spend a lot of time together.
